Thanks for the blog about crowdfunding and SoLoCo, much appreciated! What particularly drew us to the concept of crowdfunding was it's potential to directly connect projects with their communities. It's an holistic approach to community development, not only does it improve visibility for a smaller organisation, but it also encourages a sustainable relationship with interested individuals, whether they have donated £1 or £100, their support is still valued - already we have people coming forward offering technical and physical help along with their donations. And from a donor's perspective they know exactly where that money is going and for what.
By joining in the funding mix, SoLoCo can help everybody's money goes that little bit further, and hopefully in the not too distant future we can start to see independent, thriving and sustainable communities.

Good question Tom and one I am keen to look at. Generally the lunch time rush are more engaged and therefore we go with news stories or more hard hitting stories - that is also a a question of resource because if something kicks off we can manage it better as it is during working hours (whatever those are!).

We also tend to use the afternoon stories for less newsy stories but for general questions to our 'likers' and for competitions etc.

Thanks for the insight. Do you find a difference in content/attitude from the different peak audiences at lunchtime / commute home? Do you adjust your updates accordingly? (is the lunchtime audience more critial or social? Does the evening commute audience prefer to comment on more feel-good stories?)

Would be great to hear about any community building experience. I've started following @deirdre so be great to hear your experiences.

Not been to the web managers meet up, but always happy to talk!

Nice one Roberto! We also worked with Sift to create the online community at CIMA. You might want to share learnings and ideas with @deirdre who runs it.

Would make a good Web Managers talk one time too.

Cheers
